AGAO PROJECT
Hi, I’m Aga, a textile artist based in Poland where I graduated from Art University. My journey began with weaving and sewing - skills passed down through generations of women in my family, starting with my grandmother and great-grandmother in their rural village.
My textile work deeply reflects this Eastern European heritage with modern design, experimenting with negative space and traditional rural imagery to explore personal narrative and self-expression.
NEW SERIES I AM WORKING ON:
There is an old saying that ‘every man should plant a tree.’ This is what grew on mine. I have a memory of planting a tree: as a kid, I found an abandoned apple tree in a field and planted it in my family’s garden. My new series are a fruit of that. The trees in my textiles don’t bear normal fruit. The apples I drew often have female faces. I am creating a way to use tree and apple as metaphor for topics I am currently reflecting, reading and researching on. My current research and creative focus explores the intersections of adulthood, womanhood, and the evolving meanings of home and family in modern world.
